In-Town: Terms of Service

In-Town Terms of Service

Last Updated: 09/10/2026

Effective immediately for new accounts, and no later than September 24, 2026 for accounts created before this date.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the In-Town mobile application ("the App"), operated by Sharp Edge Technology LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App.

1. What In-Town Does

In-Town lets you connect with friends and groups you choose to join, and shares whether you're near them — not your exact location — based on location data you provide. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how it's used.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use In-Town, and able to form a binding contract under the laws of your state. The App is currently offered only to users in the United States. By using the App, you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. Your Account

  • You must provide a real phone number you control and verify it via SMS code.
  • You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, including anything shared through groups you've joined.
  • Keep your device and phone number secure — anyone with access to your verification codes can access your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time from Settings within the App. This permanently removes your account, friend connections, and group memberships.

4. Acceptable Use

In-Town is meant for sharing your presence with people you know and trust. You agree not to:

  • Use the App to track, monitor, or locate anyone without their knowledge and willing participation.
  • Use the App to stalk, harass, intimidate, or harm another person.
  • Create a group or join a group to gain access to someone's proximity information under false pretenses.
  • Impersonate another person, or provide a false name or phone number.
  • Attempt to access another user's account without authorization.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or use automated tools to access the App or its backend services.
  • Use the App in any way that violates applicable law.

You also agree not to submit objectionable content. The only content you create in In-Town is your display name and the names of groups you create, and both are shown to other people. Objectionable content includes anything that is:

  • obscene, sexually explicit, or vulgar;
  • hateful, or that demeans or attacks a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age;
  • threatening, harassing, or that targets a specific person;
  • impersonating another person or organization; or
  • promoting violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.

We screen names automatically when they are set, and we act on reports. Automatic screening is not perfect and is not a substitute for the standards above.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice, at our discretion.

5. Reporting, Moderation, and Enforcement

If you see a name, a group name, or behavior that breaks these Terms, report it from inside the App. You can also block anyone, which immediately stops the two of you from seeing each other in the app and ends any friendship between you. You do not have to report someone in order to block them, and we do not automatically tell anyone that they were reported or blocked. Blocking a user that is in a group with you can still allow them to see some information about you. Leave groups that are in common with that user, or ask the owner to kick them from the group.

We review every report we receive and aim to respond within 24 hours. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Depending on what we find, we may take no action, require a name to be changed, remove a group, suspend an account, or terminate an account permanently. We may act with or without notice, and we may act on a violation we find ourselves rather than one that was reported. Our decision is final.

6. Groups and Friends

Groups are joined through an invite link that a member shares, and the group's owner can require that they approve new members before they join. We don't vet who an owner, member of the group, or recipient of a link further shares the link with. You're responsible for who you invite into your groups and who you accept as a friend. Everyone in a group can see the proximity, name, and phone number of everyone else in it.

7. Location Data Isn't a Safety Tool

Location data in the App can be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable — it depends on your device's GPS, network connectivity, and how recently you or your friends opened the App. Do not rely on In-Town for emergencies, to verify someone's safety, or as a substitute for calling 911 or other emergency services.

8. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party infrastructure to function, including Google Firebase (authentication, data storage, push notifications) and Google Maps Platform (map display). Your use of the App is also subject to those providers' own terms where applicable.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, and any own-able underlying code are owned by Sharp Edge Technology LLC. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on your own device for personal, non-commercial use. You don't get any ownership rights in the App itself.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that location data will be accurate.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sharp Edge Technology LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App — including damages resulting from another user's conduct, inaccurate location data, or unauthorized access to your account. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed $100.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Sharp Edge Technology LLC harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the App.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, or at our discretion to protect other users or the App itself.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For accounts that already exist when we post an update, material changes take effect 14 days later, or when re-agreed to. For accounts created after we post, the updated Terms apply from the moment you accept them when you sign up. Changes required by law or by app store policy may take effect immediately. Continued use of the App after the applicable date means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
